Drones in Nether Stowey
There have been recent instances of drones flying over the village, getting lost and invading privacy. We ask that operators ensure they are familiar with the regulations for flying drones. These may change soon, but the basics are:
- Always keep your drone in sight
- Stay below 120m (400ft)
- Every time you fly your drone you must follow the manufacturer’s instructions
- Keep 50m away from people and properties – please respect other people’s privacy and peace and quiet.
- Keep 150m away from crowds and built-up areas
- Stay away from aircraft, airports and airfield as endangering an aircraft is a criminal offence
Further details on the use of drones are available from this link or download the Drone Code here
If you are bothered by a drone and cannot resolve it with the owner, you may consider if it is a matter of anti-social behaviour. Sedgemoor’s website has information and a “Report It” option at www.sedgemoor.gov.uk/asb. There is also a hotline (0800 298 2009) or you can call Community Services for general advice on 0300 303 7800.
Alternatively, you can report it to the police on 101 or by e-mail to SomWestNPTSedgemoor@avonandsomerset.police.uk.
