Please note that from 1 April all services are managed by Somerset Waste under the new Somerset Council.
Collection day in Nether Stowey is FRIDAY for recycling, food waste and black bins or bags.
For further information from Somerset Council please click here.
Recycling and food waste is collected on a weekly basis, whilst general refuse will be collected every three weeks, normally in a wheeled (black) bin. In some areas of the village black bags can be used. Please contact Somerset Waste Partnership for details. Bins and recycling boxes are provided by Somerset Waste. Please place your refuse and recycling on the edge of your property by 7:00am on your collection day, and no earlier than the night before.
Food waste collections
A kitchen caddy and special external bin, with a lockable lid, are provided for weekly food waste collections to most households in Somerset. Caddy liners, if you choose to use them, can be purchased from a wide range of local shops, but you can use newspaper or kitchen roll.
Garden waste collection service
Somerset Waste provides an optional fortnightly garden waste collection service using either a green wheelie bin or special paper sacks. Green bins are collected on THURSDAY – the annual charge for this service is currently £63.50.
Alternatively, customers can apply to use compostable garden sacks, which currently cost £31.40 for 10 sacks. The sacks have a capacity of 90L. Collection is arranged through the SWP website at www.somerset.gov.uk/bins-recycling-and-waste/garden-waste-collections/ or contact Somerset Council Customer Services on 0300 123 2224.
Bank Holidays
Bank holiday collections are usually one, sometimes two days later. A Friday collection is therefore on Saturday or Monday. A reminder of changed collection dates is posted on this website and on local notice boards, nearer the time, or from the Somerset Council website and click “Check My Collection Days”).
