Friends of Quantock was founded in 1949 with the object of safeguarding the landscape and natural environment of the Quantock Hills. We are an independent charity run by volunteers from the local community. We are represented on the Quantock Hills Joint Advisory Committee and work closely with the Quantock Hills AONB service on projects which enhance, conserve or seek to understand the landscape and its ecology, flora and fauna.
We monitor planning applications and any changes and developments which affect the Quantock environment. We also commission reports on endangered species and habitats. We are proud to be the custodian of some 400 acres of land on the northern common, which we hold on behalf of the people of Somerset. We aim to provide a voice for everyone concerned with the beauty and welfare of the Quantocks.Membership is open to individuals and businesses – for more information visit our website at www.friendsofquantock.com
