PUBLIC CONSULTATION RESULTS – Land at A39/Stogursey Lane
The results of the Public Consultation held on 22 February are as follows:
Question 1 – I agree the proposed retail unit is “priority infrastructure” for the village:
Total number of responses (all areas): 522

- – In favour – 250 (47.9%)
- – Unclear/unsure – 6 (1.1%)
Total responses from Nether Stowey postcodes only: 434

- – Against the proposal – 232 (53.4%)
- – In favour – 196 (45.2%)
- – Unclear/unsure – 6 (1.4%)
There were 434 respondents from Nether Stowey parish, and 88 from other parishes.
There were 233 response by e-mail and 289 completed forms/letters.
Of the 289 forms and letters, 155 answered both questions:

- – Against the proposal, against more housing (No/No) – 112
- – Against the proposal, in favour of more housing (No/Yes) – nil
- – In favour of the proposal, against more housing (Yes/No) – 16
- – In favour of the proposal and more housing (Yes/Yes) – 26
Of the 134 who did not answer question 2, 128 were against the proposal, 4 were in favour and 2 were unsure.
It was not possible to do similar analysis on e-mailed replies as they did not have the same structure.

The Council considered the proposal in the light of the consultation result and other factors and voted to support the proposal for priority infrastructure at their meeting on 10 March.
