Bank Holiday Week Rubbish Collection
/in News/by netherstoweyDon’t forget – rubbish collection is on Saturday 5 September instead of the usual Friday because of the Bank Holiday on Monday. Recycling centres are open at their usual times (8am-4pm) including Bank Holiday Monday.
The Christmas Collection schedule is now confirmed as Sunday 27th December (instead of Friday 25th) and Monday 4 January (instead of Fri 1 Jan). Full details are here.

Vandalism at Nether Stowey Playing Field
/in News/by netherstoweyIt is only a few short weeks since the new play area was completed, after a huge effort by the Playing Field Committee to raise funds and manage the project. They also did the work themselves to prepare the ground for the equipment to be installed.
So it is very sad that already some of the equipment has been broken, and deliberately. As well as that, there has been a spate of vandalism elsewhere on the Playing Field, and now there has been a break-in from which expensive maintenance equipment and supplies have been stolen.
Please! Don’t let all the hard work to make a super facility for the village go to waste. If you know anything about what has been happening – maybe you saw or heard something that might be connected with any of the incidents – please contact the Parish Council Office. All information will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.

Why have we made this change?
The single number makes it easier and cheaper to contact us. People don’t have to decide which 0845 number to use and the single number will be easier to remember.
On average it will be cheaper for people to call us. Exact charges depend on landline and mobile phone packages, but calls to 0300 numbers are charged at the same rate as calls to any number starting with 01 or 02.
Also, anyone with free minutes as part of their landline or mobile call plan will automatically be able to call 0300 123 2224 for free (so long as they are within their free minutes allocation), which was not the case with the 0845 numbers.
How are the calls answered?
Callers are asked to choose one of four options: ‘Services for Children’, ‘Adult Social Care’, ‘Roads and Transport’ and ‘All other enquiries’. After that the experience is the same as before, which may include additional options, for example a safeguarding option if the call is to Children or Adults services.
The contact centre Somerset Direct has a good record of responding to calls quickly and has the same number of well-trained staff in place so there will be no change to the service provided. All other services including support for Type Talk, email and SMS text are unaffected by the change.

WESSEX WATER ROAD CLOSURE UPDATE – Stogursey Lane

We have been advised that the road closure for Stogursey Lane will now take place from 7 APRIL for about three weeks. It is estimated that the road will reopen on approximately 24 APRIL. This can be accessed from this android mobile casino site from here and android casino app. We have not yet received the official notice from County Highways for this part of the work. For the whole period there will be two-way traffic lights on the A39. Please take care.
Please note that the Parish Council is not consulted about road closures.
