RETIREMENT OF CLLR JOHN ROBERTS
We are sad to announce the retirement of Cllr John Roberts, Chairman of the Parish Council. John served for over 16 years as a Councillor, becoming Vice-Chairman in 2014 and then as Chairman for the last 8 years. John made many contributions to the village during his time as a councillor and we would like to highlight two particular items. Firstly the fantastic work John and Mary did in organising the May Fair for many, many years and secondly John’s unwavering commitment and hard work to ensure delivery of affordable housing within the village. John is a very skilled engineer and talented woodworker, both of which we have called on during his time on the Council: he masterminded the refurbishment of the Clock Tower last year, and in particular he precisely cut and shape all the individual pieces that make up the bellcote. It is also thanks to John that we have had the lovely Christmas lights every year as he designed and made the various fixtures that hold them all together. His last duty was to present Coronation Mugs to the children at Nether Stowey School last week.
We will greatly miss his leadership and depth of knowledge, and we wish him and Mary a happy retirement.
John’s retirement creates a vacancy on the Parish Council. Details will be available shortly, but if you would like to take up this seat, please contact the Parish Office for further details.
